This is based on the Lunar Hindu Calendar and is celebrated on the Sacred day of the Chaitra Shukla Prathama / Padyami Day in the Hindu Calendar. It is customary to pray to the Lord and begin the New Year with His Blessings so that the whole year runs smoothly, peacefully and successfully
